Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to lead a small team to perform operational tasks at an incident. It applies to personnel who are responsible for ensuring that tasks allocated to their crew are effectively and efficiently carried out. The work is typically performed under the supervision of a designated officer within the organisation's chain of command.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Conclude tasks
  • Completion of tasks is reported to the designated officer, in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Crew and equipment are made ready for further tasks

  • Documentation is completed, in accordance with organisational procedures
       
Element: Prepare crew for tasks
  • Initial briefing is obtained from the designated officer, in accordance with the organisational chain of command
       
Element: Additional information, equipment and resources are obtained, as required
       
Element: Crews are briefed and tasks are allocated
       
Element: Lead crew to perform tasks
  • Tasks are implemented as directed by the designated officer, in accordance with the organisational chain of command
       
Element: Progress towards completion of tasks is monitored and adjustments are made, as required
       
Element: Reports are provided to the designated officer, in accordance with organisational procedures and instructions
       
Element: Communication is maintained with supervisor, crew members and other personnel in the work/incident area
       
Element: Safety, health and wellbeing of crew members is monitored and appropriate action is taken

Assessment Tasks

Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

Range is restricted to essential operating conditions and any other variables essential to the work environment.
